Blogmas Day 16; First Time Trying Eggnog

Even though we have been in and out of lockdowns this year I have still made it a year where I have focused on developing areas of my life. The first is my mental health and self love game. I have been really focusing on growing my self love and taking care of myself both mentally and physcially a lot more over the past months. I have also been open to trying and experining new things. I have tried so many new foods this year, which I now love, and have allowed myself to colour my hair, which I was always too scared to do before and so on.. This year has been the beginning of my personal growth journey, seeming we had a lot of time to focus on ourselves. So, what better way to end the year by trying something I have never tried before, which is ofcourse, judging by the title, eggnog.

The recipe I have used is from @Delish.com and the ingrediants I needed were milk, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla extract, large egg yolks, caster sugar, double cream, bourbon or rum ( which is optional but I obviosuly opted in for the alcohol) and whipped cream, for serving. The recipe on their website makes 4 servings but as it is just my mum and I we decided to half the recipe so hopefully it still works fine, I don't see why it wouldn'd be let's give it go.

It was going so well and the recipe was so easy to follow but I did accidently add the egg whites also, so I'm pretty sure I sort of ruined it. You know when you get so carried away and excited about somthing and then next minute you realised you've got a little bit happy and boom something has gone wrong, yep, well that was me. I just wasn't paying enough attention. Once the mixture is cooked you have to put it in the fridge to cool down. The mixture was suppose to set so it would stick to the rear of a spoon, ours was very runny and we just could not get it thick. Don't get me wrong it smelt absolutely amazing, sort of like cream custard tarts and we did have a little sip, again tasted lovely with shipped cream and Cinnamom to top it off but we were a little scared to finish it off incase the egg wasn't cooked properly. Note to self, "Follow the recipe next time, Elle." Other than that it did taste good and smelt good so we will definitely be trying again.

If you ahve ever tried making eggnog I'd love to know how it went for you, also don't forget to follow us on social media.
