Trying Slimming World's Five-Spice Ramen Bowl

So I have began trying the 1000 calories diet. In all honestly I'm not sticking to it religiously but if I was to go over slightly, I'm still under my recommended calories intake. I've been doing this diet for about a week now but I won't say no more, I will leave that to another blog. Whilst trying this diet my mum and I have started to have one evening a week where we will try making something new and spending a bit of quality time together. This week we are trying a recipe off the Slimming World website. Recently we have been loving noodles, stir-fries and pasta dishes so we have decided to try the Five Spice Pork Ramen Bowl.

Looking through the ingredients there are a few bits I don't like so I have slightly cheated and missed a few bits out. I will put the full ingredients list below but I haven't added all of them.

You will need Pork Steaks, Spice Powder, Chicken Stock, Sweetcorn, Root Ginger, Garlic, Soy Sauce, Oyster Sauce, Rice Noodles or Egg Noodles, Pak Choi, Radishes, Red Chillis and Coriander.

Step 1: First thing first is to put the pork into a bowl and coat it with the spice powder. Honestly this is not my favourite part not going to lie.

Step 2: Next up is to put the pork into a frying pan and fry until cooked. They have said until it is crispy, browned and cooked through. They've also said you might need to do it in batches but being my inpatient self of course it all goes in at once. Once cooked I transferred it to a plate and covered it in foil to keep the heat in.

Step 3: Then I added the stock, ginger, garlic and soy sauce to boil. After about a minute I added the noodles and went on to cook for about 5 minutes until it was ready.

Step 4:  I spooned the noodles and sauce into a bowl. Added the pork on top with some coriander and beansprouts. Unfortunately I didn't have ramen bowls. **WARNING Story Upcoming if you don't wish to read this part then skip to step 5** So when I was in Paphos I saw these lush ramen bowls in Tiger. They were pastel pink and blue and came with chopsticks and a spoon. I was in love, just thought that looked so cute but of course didn't buy them, now can't find them anywhere, can't find any I like online so totally regretting it! Lesson learnt, if you want it buy it, life is too short!

Step 5: Presentation, I honestly tried to make it as Insta-worthy as possible, but my artistic creativity isn't the best when it comes to things like that. But I tried!

The Verdict

Let me just start off by saying the Slimming World website said that this was no syns. Okay, awesome! It was stunning. Loved every mouthful, I didn't add as much water as they said and think I'd do the same next time too just because I prefer it less watery. I know I didn't follow the recipe 100% completely but it turned out great. I will definitely be having that again.

Until Next Time!X
